This Graduate Assistantship supports campus initiatives with the creation
and dispersion of promotional information to assist the Office of Employee
and Organizational Development in keeping the university's faculty, staff
and student population informed of upcoming events. They will develop
and/or select publicity material for various events using various forms of
media to best promote the information to the targeted audience. Duties
performed on the job include: Attend campus wellness, conflict resolution,
EOD meetings when possible Develop advertising campaigns for campus
initiatives Plan, prepare or edit publications for internal and external
audiences, including flyers, newsletters, posters, websites, and other
needed media Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with
representatives of community, consumer, employee, and public interest
groups. Confer with committee members to produce or coordinate production
of advertisements and promotions Research other universities to provide
reports to the committee for future public relation ideas Assist Campus
Wellness Committee Members and the Staff of the EOD Office with conducting
focus groups and/or surveys to gauge the interest of faculty, staff, and
students regarding wellness, professional development and other programs
Consult with committee members and campus resources to produce and
distribute promotional material Skills and experience preferred for the
position: Graphics or photo imaging, desktop publishing software
Communications and media knowledge of media production, communication, and
dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to
inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media. Writing-

Job Title: Employee and Organizational Development Graduate Assistantship
Reports to: Assistant Director of HR for Employee Development Summary:
Assists in planning, coordinating, and directing of employee development
activities for university employees, faculty, and staff, researches and
assists with development of HR procedures/manuals/web pages, and assists
with Well Workplace programs and activities. Duties and Responsibilities:
Researches best practices from other Institutions related to HR programs,
and procedures. Assists with updating manuals, files, PR materials, and
other office procedures. Enters data in various databases. Conducts
individual, group, and university-based training and development needs
analyses and assessments. Based on assessed need, plans, develops, and
delivers or coordinates the delivery of individual and/or group training
and instructional programs, encompassing a wide range of technical,
operational, management, and/or other skills areas. Develops and prepares
training curricula; formulates or reviews training outlines, and determines
appropriate instructional methodologies and formats; evaluates and
recommends incorporation of vendor programs, as appropriate to meet overall
training goals and objectives. Develops and prepares teaching and visual
aides, instructional materials, computer tutorials, and reference materials
appropriate to specific program objectives. Coordinates, facilitates,
conducts, and/or assists with specified university development activities,
such as strategic planning retreats, team building programs, organizational
analyses, and restructuring exercises. Develops testing and evaluation
procedures. Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs
and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in
instructional objectives and methods. Participates in the sourcing,
selection, and evaluation of contracted instructors and consultants, as
appropriate. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Work

Perusing Bachelors degree in a related Administrative, Business, Liberal
Arts, or Social Sciences discipline and/or current enrollment in a related
graduate program. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Advanced
verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal communication
skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse
population. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
Knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles, and a wide range
of training methods, techniques, and formats. Knowledge of curriculum
development and preparation procedures. Skill in teaching others how to do
something. Ability to interpret and assess training and development needs
and to develop appropriate and creative responses. Knowledge of
organizational development principles and processes, methods, and
techniques. Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments. Skill in
facilitating and leading strategic planning and organizational development
interventions. Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate training
plans, curricula, and methodology. Skill in organizing resources and
establishing priorities. Ability to determine training objectives. Ability
to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of
alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches. Ability to motivate,
develop, and direct people as they work. Awareness of others reactions and
understanding why they react as they do. Ability to adjust actions in
relation to others actions. Skill in using mathematics to solve problems.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort: Work is normally performed in a
typical interior/office work environment. Frequent contact with others via
telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face interaction. Moderate physical
activity. Sometimes requires handling of average-weight object up to 25
pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
