Hi Baogang,

My name is Alex Shapiro and I work with Jim Hoadley, associate director, at the GT CIBER (Georgia Tech Center for International Business Education and Research). I found your info while browsing online for folks in business schools and other academic institutions around the Southeast who may know faculty members interested in developing their professional and academic network in Japan.

I'm reaching out to you in hopes that some colleagues will spring to mind from Dalton State's Political Science department for whom the Japan 'Faculty Development in International Business' (FDIB) trip may be of special interest and real benefit. Hopefully it even appeals to you directly!

Jim has planned an immersive, fast-paced FDIB itinerary this summer, from May 18-June 2. Jim lived in Japan for many years and is extremely knowledgeable in many dimensions of Japanese culture, history, and language - a fact I can confirm by my own experience, based on the many times Jim has stopped by my desk for something unrelated, then stayed to tell the generous and fascinating details of military strategy in the Edo period, Samurai families' evolution into modern corporations, or political tensions behind changes in the Tsukiji Fish Market, among many other topics :)

The itinerary includes several meetings with executives at Japanese firms, programs and presentations at leading Japanese universities, and visits to manufacturing plants that epitomize innovation and sustainability. More information is posted here:

If you know any faculty at Dalton State College or elsewhere who may be interested in this curated, unique adventure, please forward them this info and/or direct them to me via e-mail (ajshapiro at gatech.edu<mailto:ajshapiro at gatech.edu>) or phone (404.451.9946) for more information.

Thanks for your time and attention!
