Colleagues,
We are looking forward to seeing you at the USG Asia Council “Teaching Japan” Faculty Development Workshop, hosted at Georgia State University – Perimeter College, Dunwoody Campus. This email will address:
· General Overview of Schedule
· JAPAN EXPO (Friday, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm) & TAIKO DRUM PERFORMANCE (Friday, 7:00 pm)
· Accommodations for out-of-town participants
· Directions, Maps & Parking (including alternate routes due to the I-85 collapse)
General Overview of Schedule
Friday
11:30 am – 1:30 pm Japan Expo
1:30 – 6:00 pm Sessions 1-3
6:00 pm Japanese Dinner (compliments of USG Asia Council)
7:00 pm Taiko Drum Performance
Saturday
10:00 am – 12:45 pm Sessions 4-5
1:00 pm Optional Lunch (Dutch Treat) at nearby Asian restaurant
Additional Friday Activities
JAPAN EXPO (Friday, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm) See attached flyer
We have an extensive lineup of cultural exhibits with community artist and guests: Japanese flower arranging from the Ichiyo School of Ikebana; Atlanta Bonsai Society; Japanese Embroidery Center; Origami Christmas Trees & More with Sachiko Kogure; Interactive Calligraphy & Origami by the Japan-America Society, and Japanese Consulate exhibits (historic kites, folk toys, and Scenes of Japan display); plus, over 70 cultural posters and other exhibits on various aspects of Japanese history, culture and society.
TAIKO DRUM PERFORMANCE (Friday, 7:00 pm) See attached flyer
Both events above are Open to the Public and FREE. If you have friends, relatives or colleagues in Atlanta you would like to invite to one or both, just send them the flyers.
