Good afternoon, SHRM Student Chapter President and Student Chapter Advisors!

I wanted to make you aware of a unique opportunity that SHRM is providing
in conjunction with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). In
the first of its kind, SHRM and CHCI will partner to provide 5 internships
in the field of HR in the Southern California area during the summer of
2016. Additionally, SHRM will provide students with a scholarship of
$2,500 towards the completion of their program.

SHRM has supported CHCI since 2009 and has worked diligently to build
relationships with elected members of the Caucus, as well as collaborate on
a variety of projects. For 2016, SHRM will be expanding its relationship
with CHCI through the creation of an internship/scholarship program. The
CHCI-SHRM scholar-intern program is a ten week paid internship where
students will work directly with the Human Resources departments of
organizations in the greater Los Angeles area. If selected, applicants MUST
complete the internship in order to receive scholarship funds, provided by
SHRM. Interns are expected to work full time for ten weeks during summer
2016, and will be compensated at $15 per hour (for undergraduate students)
or $19 per hour (for graduate students). Internship placements will start
on Monday, June 13 and conclude on Friday, August 19. Exact hours and
start/end dates may vary slightly based on where you complete your
placement. Upon completion of the internship, each scholar-intern will
receive a $2,500 scholarship to support the completion of their education.

Placements will be completed at one of the following organizations:

· *Cambro Manufacturing* <http://www.cambro.com/>, Huntington
Beach, California

· *Reyes Holdings* <http://www.reyesholdings.com/beer_division.html>,
Huntington Beach, California

· *SAG-AFTRA* <http://www.sagaftra.org/>, Los Angeles, California

· *Zodiac Water and Waste Aero Systems*
<http://www.zodiacaerospace.com/en/products-services/aircraft-systems/water-waste-systems-0>,
Carson, CA

Please Note -- *Students must reside in the greater Los Angeles area during
Summer 2016* to be eligible for the scholar-intern program, as SHRM, the
host organizations, and CHCI do not offer housing or transportation.
Scholar-interns must have their own housing that is close enough to get
themselves to work on time each day.

Please feel free to notify students in your chapter of this exciting
opportunity. To learn more about this exciting opportunity, please visit:
