<p class="MsoNormal">For those of you in the Atlanta area, just a reminder that this weekend is
<a href="http://www.japanfest.org"><span style="color:windowtext">www.japanfest.org</span></a> at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth (aka Gwinnet Civic Center). This is the largest cultural festival in the Southeastern U.S., with attendance exceeding 20,000
over two days. Every year they bring in top notch acts, and this year it’s a Kyogen group from Japan. We were able to have them give a lecture/demonstration at Perimeter College today, with 220+ in attendance, comprising students, faculty and staff from
Perimeter College and GSU, as well as individuals from the community and two local school groups (one that is going to Japan in next March). It is the first time a Kyogen group has performed in the Southeastern U.S. While Kabuki is a well-known Japanese
theatrical form, both in country and abroad, Kyogen (and its counterpart No) are much older (seven centuries) and more obscure. Most Japanese have never even seen a Kyogen performance, so this was indeed a privilege. If going to Japan Fest this weekend,
I nightly encourage you to see them perform. Even the kids from the local middle school that attended loved it!<o:p></o:p></p>
