I am very saddened to learn of Tom's passing. He will truly be missed. He contributed a great deal to the Asia Council and Asian studies. He was very involved with our Year of Korea program including contributing an article to our Journal of Global Initiatives. https://digitalcommons.kennesaw.edu/jgi/vol5/iss2/6/
My deepest condolences to his friends and family.

Hi Eric,

Sorry to hear about the loss of Tom. As David said, he gave an informative presentation on North Korea at the Teaching Asia Workshop on Korea. He had considerable knowledge of N. Korea, having made at least two trips there. I will miss him and so all Asianists. May his soul rest in peace.

Thank you

Salli

Eric,

I'm sorry to hear that. Tom gave a great presentation on North Korea a few years ago at the Asia Council Workshop. I'm sure his family is proud of his accomplishments and the productive and meaningful life that he lived.

Sincerely,

David

Dear Asia Council Colleagues,

It is with a heavy heart that we report that one of our colleagues, Dr. Tom Dolan, recently passed away.

Dolan joined the faculty of CSU in August 2000 after twenty years as a Naval officer. He chaired the Political Science Department from 2003 to 2008 and again from 2010 to 2014, retired as a Full Professor in 2018, was named Professor Emeritus that same year, and taught courses in Political Science as recently as last semester.

He served as the Director of the Richard R. Hallock Lecture Series from 2007 to 2016. Under Dr. Dolan’s leadership, CSU hosted a series of internationally recognized speakers in the area of national security, including Ambassador Thomas Pickering and Major General Patricia Frost. Dr. Dolan was himself a recognized expert on North Korea who had traveled there in recent years. He published numerous articles on Asian international issues, particularly related to Korea.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family.
