Japan in the News
To celebrate the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game coming to Washington, DC this summer, the Japan Information & Culture Center<https://t.e2ma.net/click/efqlz/ymx71l/mtq5ch> of the Embassy of Japan, together with the Gordon W. Prange Collection at the University of Maryland Libraries and Japanese baseball specialist Adam Berenbak, is presenting the "A New League: Shared Pastimes and the Story of U.S.-Japan Baseball<https://t.e2ma.net/click/efqlz/ymx71l/2lr5ch>" exhibition from June 13 to August 10. Featuring baseball-related historical objects and artifacts from Japan, the exhibition will trace the history of the sport in Japan as well as explore the fascinating history of sports exchange and “baseball diplomacy” between Japan and the U.S. – avenues of contact that have fostered friendship, goodwill, and reconciliation between the two nations.

Ambassador Shinsuke J. Sugiyama Visits the Aloha State
Ambassador Sugiyama had his first chance to say "aloha" to Hawaii as Ambassador in May, meeting Governor David Ige in Honolulu. He also had a chance to see the new rail cars being produced by an Ansaldo STS/Hitachi Rail joint project, which will bring needed capacity to Honolulu Rail Transit.
