Discovering Taiwan: Exploring Centuries of Culture, Psychology and Technology [Taipei at night]

Taiwan, once known as Formosa, meaning “beautiful island,” is one of Asia’s hidden treasures. In addition to its stunning beauty, Taiwan is a democratic country, the 5th largest economy in Asia, and one of the world’s top producers of computer technology. Taiwan also has many unique features, such as free WiFi in major cities and a world-renown national health care program. Five thousand years of Chinese cultures blend with modern technology, along with Japanese, Spanish, and Dutch influences from the colonial past to make Taiwan a unique Asian experience. Field trips include visiting Taipei 101, vibrant night markets, the National Palace Museum, the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall, the Taiwan Presidential Office Building, Computex Taipei (computer expo), the Lungshan Temple of Manka, Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf, Beitou Hot Springs, local schools, gorgeous beaches, majestic mountains, delicious food and more.

Students will choose two courses in Psychology and/or Computer Science plus a required one-credit hour Taiwanese Culture and Language course, for a total of 7 credit hours. May 17 to June 16, 2018. Cost: $4900 plus tuition and some meals. Airfare, lodging, breakfasts, some meals, all field trips and excursions, a Taipei transit card, and study abroad [Wen Wo Temple] insurance are included.
