Dear Colleague:

We are pleased that over the last few academic years you have had the opportunity to host one or more of our terrific Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA). We appreciate your engagement and hope that this proved most valuable to your students and to your institution.

Imagine the impact that a Fulbright Visiting Scholar might have while teaching at your institution for a semester or full academic year and helping you to internationalize your campus and community! If you are interested in developing or enhancing your institution’s international programs, teaching and curricula as well as outreach, we encourage you to apply to host a Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence from abroad.

While open to all accredited U.S. higher education institutions, the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program gives preference to Minority Serving Institutions, community colleges, and small liberal arts colleges as well as to institutions who have never or infrequently hosted visiting scholars in hosting S-I-Rs. Rural colleges and universities are also encouraged to apply. Institutions may either name a specific scholar or request scholar recruitment by U.S. Embassies or by Fulbright Commissions abroad.

In addition to teaching and curriculum development, Scholars-in-Residence are involved in a variety of activities across campus with students, faculty and/or administrators and engage in different ways with the surrounding community, including community groups, K-12 schools and school districts and other community organizations and institutions.

Please visit our website for more information on the program, application process and impact stories from host institutions (http://www.cies.org/program/fulbright-scholar-residence-program<http://fulbrightonline.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bdc540fc59064635c000007d0&id=26f19a5725&e=cf38cb0d8a>).

We are currently soliciting applications for the 2018 -2019 academic year https://iie.embark.com/apply/sir<http://fulbrightonline.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=bdc540fc59064635c000007d0&id=451204a395&e=cf38cb0d8a>. The institutional application deadline date is October 16, 2017.

My colleagues and I would be delighted to set up a phone call to discuss the program and ways your institution can participate! We look forward to hearing from you!

All Best Wishes,

Cecilia P. Kocinski-Mulder
