FYI

Dear Colleagues:

Greetings from the Institute of International Education (IIE).

I am happy to share with you two exciting announcements from IIE regarding the Freeman-ASIA program and #GoStudyAbroad.

Freeman-ASIA Launches Fall/Academic Year Competition
The Institute of International Education (IIE) is now accepting applications for fall and academic year 2016 Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA). The student deadline is April 11, and the adviser deadline is April 18.

To access the application, and to learn more about eligibility, timelines, and scholarship requirements, please visit our website: http://www.iie.org/Programs/Freeman-ASIA.

The Freeman Foundation’s generous support for the relaunch of Freeman-ASIA builds on prior grants to IIE that funded more than 4,500 American undergraduates in Asia from 2001 to 2014. The newly available awards will advance IIE’s Generation Study Abroad, a five-year initiative aiming to double the number of U.S. students abroad by the end of the decade by mobilizing resources and commitments across the higher education, philanthropy and corporate sectors. For questions about Freeman-ASIA, please contact Steven Dale at sdale at iie.org.

Nominate Students Today to #GoStudyAbroad!

The Institute of International Education (IIE), in partnership with Go Overseas and AIFS Study Abroad, CET Academic Programs, IFSA-Butler, STA Travel, launched the #GoStudyAbroad contest calling on everyone to encourage U.S. college students to study abroad by the time they graduate. Students who enter the contest can win a $10k study abroad scholarship (along with other prizes).

#GoStudyAbroad is part of Generation Study Abroad, an initiative led by the Institute of International Education (IIE) to double the number of American students who study abroad by the end of the decade. With 1 in 5 jobs linked to international trade and employers looking for global talent, more U.S. students must study abroad to broaden their perspectives, understand and tolerate different ways of life and succeed in today's global workforce.

We encourage higher education institutions, study abroad organizations, government agencies and others to participate in this nationwide campaign. Please join us in mobilizing study abroad alumni, faculty members and wider campus communities to nominate students to #GoStudyAbroad.

Nominate students here:

Students can enter directly to win a scholarship here: http://www.gooverseas.com/generationstudyabroad

The contest runs until March 31, 2016. For any questions about #GoStudyAbroad, please contact Wagaye Johannes at WJohannes at iie.org

Thank you,

Steven Dale
